Birra Fredda Stable LLC organized in June of
2002. Twelve members contributed $2000 each to go racing at
Delaware Park. The business plan was to be an aggressive
claiming stable to take advantage of the slot fueled purses at
Delpark.
Our first claim was Dry Ice for $16,000. We
ran Dry Ice right back in the same spot at Delpark 20 days later -
and he won!! Dry Ice was also claimed out of the race for
$16k. So, not only did we make $16,200 with the win purse, but
we recouped all of our claim money too!
The next claim was Killer Angel for $25,000.
Killer ran one race for us, finishing 7th. He came back from
the race with a bad ankle which necessitated a lay-up. Facing
8 months of bills to, maybe, get Killer back to a race, most members
of the stable abandoned ship. It was decided to sell Killer to
a few members who wanted to do the lay-up - hence the birth of Ocho
Locos Stable LLC.
Birra Fredda Stable saw a revival of sorts
when 3 former members decided to claim a horse on their own.
With the LLC already formed, we claimed Flying Harley. Harley
won in his second trip for us and was claimed.
With the departure of one of the remaining
three members, another member came on board. The third edition
of Birra Fredda claimed and owned just two horses - both fillies -
named Flying Kitty and Classy Heroine. Both were winners, with
Classy Heroine winning 3 times before she was claimed from us.
